Screening for dyslexia - £70 The dyslexia screening is a shorter session which can help you decide whether to have the diagnostic assessment. It involves asking you questions about your challenges and your experiences and the completion of short tasks. Afterwards, the assessor will discuss with you the likelihood of you being dyslexic or not. A short report is produced.
Diagnostic assessment - £350 (adults and young people 17 years and over); £395 (children 16 years and under) . The assessment is carried out in two parts. Part one lasts for about an hour and is usually conducted online. Part two is when the majority of the tasks are undertaken and it is carried out at in-person at one of our centres. Appointments can be made at a time to suit you, including weekends and evenings.
The assessment involves talking about strengths and weaknesses, your educational experiences, coping strategies etc and also the completion of different tasks. These will measure attainment in areas such as reading and spelling, underlying ability, and cognitive processing.
A detailed report will be available within two weeks. This will include the assessor’s diagnosis, information on strengths and weaknesses and any appropriate recommendations. Our reports meet the necessary criteria to support an application for Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA) and, for those in or seeking employment, Access to Work.
Adults
Screening for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) - £60 Although ADHD used to be considered a condition which children outgrew, it is now recognised that it often persists into adulthood. In fact it is not uncommon for it to coexist with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. There are three subtypes of ADHD – inattentive (previously ADD); hyperactive/impulsive; and combined. ADHD is pervasive in that it affects many aspects of a person’s life and can cause significant difficulties with work, education, relationships etc.
The screening involves reflecting on aspects of your childhood and more recent experiences, plus the completion of a screening checklist. After the report has been written a meeting is arranged so that you can ask any questions and talk about the way forward. The report can be helpful in encouraging your GP to refer you for a full diagnostic assessment.
Screening for autism spectrum condition - £60 This screening involves reflecting on aspects of your childhood and adult experiences and the completion of a screening checklist. Once our report has been produced a meeting is offered to discuss the result.
